Sometimes I see a set (when I get to comment before voting ._.) and think "Whoa, this icon is sooo great, I'm gonna vote for this one when it's up", and then you see it next to others, and another one,
Of course voting is my least favorite part of the process because I'm horrible at making decisions. This time for instance I wanted to call a three way tie in the AC set between everyone who wasn't me, because they all looked wonderful to me.
And I get what you're saying with looking at theme/aesthetics/technique in micro-seconds
Sometimes I make myself walk away and wait 24 hours before voting, so it's not an immediate reaction.
And I am proud :3 Really :D And happy ^^
You should be! And btw, I hope you don't mind my saying that I looked at your 20in20 sets again - I hadn't realized it's been nearly a year since you entered the first time, and your skills have grown by leaps and bounds. That first set was a Drusilla set so it actually makes it much easier to compare apples to apples. You won a lot of awards this round, against some of the most talented artists in this corner of fandom so yes, patting yourself on the back is spectacularly justified here.
the cat-round was really hard! I really had to struggle until I finally found a way to get the colors at least a little right
Oh yeah - because I had no way of confirming, in ipiccy, if the RPG numbers for the colors stayed absolutely the same in the final product as the ones we were assigned; I had to eyeball it in the end and say "close enough for government work". (Having worked for the US Census Bureau in 2009 I now understand what that phrase means. *lol*)
I probably didn't need to be so pedantic about it but when I'm given exact colors I have to incorporate then of course I'm going to try to be exact.
And I like my alt for Cat3 better, too, but when I saw the greens next to each other, they just looked too much alike so I had to make it darker :
That "rainbow" was kind of a weird one, IMO: I liked the progression of the first three colors: cool, dark jewel tones; and then there were these two weird yellowy-limey greens that kind of looked alike. I think you handled the green spectacularly with those backgrounds.
I really adore your creativity ... Like Cat3 is absolutely brilliant <3
Thank you so much! I'm really surprised at how much people liked my Cat 3; I was basically imitating or trying to emulate (that sounds nicer) sweet_lyri's style.
