Astoria looks incredulously at Pansy. „What … What do you mean, we can’t see each other anymore?“ she asks and shakes her head lightly.
Pansy sighs and looks down to her feet. “Well, you’re engaged to Draco. And I don’t want to be in your way to a happy future.”
“But Pansy!” she exclaims. “How can my future be happy without you?”
Pansy winces as she notices how Astoria’s voice sounds higher with every word. “If you think this is easy for me, you’re wrong.”
“Then don’t do this. Please …” She can’t hold back, feeling the first tears streaming down her cheeks.
“It’s too late. I’m planning to leave England for good.”
“No … No no no no no …”
“Yes. If Draco finds out, he’s not going to marry you anymore. He can take care of you. You’ll be part of the Malfoy-Family.”
“I don’t care.”
“But I do. It’s for the better, believe me.”
Pansy turns around and walks away, fights down the urge to go back and take the weeping Astoria into her arms. It's better this way, for sure …
