Emily gave Victoria a loving and encouraging smile. She looked so beautiful in her wedding dress.
“With this hand I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine.”
Emily noticed the human's voice trembling a little when she poured the wine into the cup. Victoria's eyes were fixed on the red liquid, knowing exactly that it would change everything.
“Listen, my dear,” Emily said and put a hand on the other woman’s shoulder. “You don’t have to do this. I will still love you if we stop here. Dead or alive, I will be at your side forever,” she reassured and was relieved when she saw Victoria relaxing. Her human lover returned the smile and took a deep breath before drinking all the wine as a silent answer.
Emily flinched when Victoria bent over from pain, gasped and then collapsed.
After a moment she stood up again, legs a little shaky, looking at her own hands. She had turned a brighter shade of blue, but aside from that she still looked pretty much as before.
The newly dead took Emily’s hands in hers. “But only now our happily ever after can begin,” she breathed.
“With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine,” Victoria continued and put the golden ring on Emily’s finger. She had never been happier, for finally she was wearing a wedding ring that was really meant for her.
